Beginning meditation
This is an easy breathing session that is fast and the first step in a positive change in your life. The first step is to find an area that is quiet, and has no destractions.  Yea right you say, kids, phone, knocks at the door, I gotta be kidding right.  No, I'm serious and it can be done.  Take a walk through your house, you can find a quiet place to practice.   Decide where is the best place for you and let your family know, this is your place, even if its just for a little while.   Once you have chosen a place and are comfortable with it, try different positions.  Even a chair will do.  You can us a pillow for support.  You dont want to be uncomfortable or your mind will just keep wondering back to little aches or pains.  Once you have found a comfortable position in a quiet place let your eyelids fall to where your eyes are half open.  Start concentrating on your breathing without controlling it.   Become aware of the sensation of each breath as you inhale and exhale.  You will find your mind wandering, try to bring your concentration back to your breathing everytime you feel your mind wandering.  It will be hard at first, but over time it will become easier.  Do that for as long as you feel you need to.  This exercise in breathing meditation is the beginning of a clearer mind.  As you progress, you will advance in stages.  This beginning meditation is also used for the start of other more advanced meditations, to calm the mind.  meditation

Another form of meditation is to focus on an object.  The object can be a word or a picture you focus in your mind or can be a physical object.  You can even choose a point on your body to concentrate on.  If you look at our chakra page you can chose a chakra point.   Whatever you choose should give a pleasure vibration.  Also, if your concentrating on an object in your mind or body, close your eyes.  If your using a physical object keep eyes open on object but in a relaxed way. On any type of meditation, when you are finished with a session, bring yourself out of the session in a slow, calm and relaxed effort.

There are many types of meditation techniques available from simply breathing to astral travel.  Below are links to different sites dedicated to the different types of meditation.
